Related Product Information for CXADR active protein
Background: Coxsackie virus and adenovirus receptor (CXADR) also known as CAR, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein for group B coxsackie viruses and subgroup C adenoviruses, and belongs to the CTX family of the Ig superfamily. CAR is strongly expressed in the developing central nervous system. It functions as a homophilic and also as a heterophilic cell adhesion molecule through its interactions with extracellular matrix glycoproteins such as: fibronectin, agrin, laminin-1 and tenascin-R. Human CXADR protein contains a signal sequence, a extracellular domain (ECD) with a V- type (D1) and a C2- type (D2) Ig-like domain, a transmembrane segment and a intracellular domain. D1 is thought to be responsible for homodimer formation in trans within tight junctions, and is necessary and sufficient for adenovirus binding. Variants of CXADR are attached to the cell membrane by a GPI- anchor.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane receptor for group B coxsackieviruses and subgroup C adenoviruses. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene are found on chromosomes 15, 18, and 21. [provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

Uniprot Description

CXADR: a component of the epithelial apical junction complex that is essential for the tight junction integrity. Proposed to function as a homophilic cell adhesion molecule. Recruits MPDZ to intercellular contact sites. Probably involved in transepithelial migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) through adhesive interactions with AMICA1 located in the plasma membrane of PMN.

Product Notes

The CXADR cxadr (Catalog #AAA844913) is an Active Protein produced from HEK293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CXADR/CAR can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CXADR cxadr for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CXADR/CAR, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
