Related Product Information for IL-12p40 active protein
IL-12 is a potent regulator of cell-mediated immune responses and it induces IFN-gamma production by NK and T cells. It is produced by activated monocytes/macrophage cells, B lymphocytes and connective tissue-type mast cells. Among its biological activities, IL-12 promotes the growth and activity of activated NK, CD4+ and CD8+ cells, and induces the development of IFN-gamma-producing Th1 cells. Recombinant Murine IL-12p40 is a 40.0 kDa protein consisting of 313 amino acid residues and less than 5%of the IL-12p80 dimer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the beta subunit p40 of the Interleukin 12 (IL-12) family of cytokines. Members of the IL-12 family form heterodimers consisting of heavy and light subunits linked by disulfide bonds. The product of this gene, p40, is a subunit of interleukins IL-12 and IL-23. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]

Uniprot Description

Cytokine that can act as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhance the lytic activity of NK/lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulate the production of IFN-gamma by resting PBMC.

Product Notes

The IL-12p40 il12b (Catalog #AAA692489) is an Active Protein produced from HEK 293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse IL-12p40 reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MWELEKDVYV VEVDWTPDAP GETVNLTCDT PEEDDITWTS DQRHGV IGSG KTLTITVKEF LDAGQYTCHK GGETLSHSHL LLHKKENGIW S TEILKNFKN KTFLKCEAPN YSGRFTCSWL VQRNMDLKFN IKSSSSS PDS RAVTCGMASL SAEKVTLDQR DYEKYSVSCQ EDVTCPTAEE TL PIELALEA RQQNKYENYS TSFFIRDIIK PDPPKNLQMK PLKNSQVE VS WEYPDSWSTP HSYFSLKFFV RIQRKKEKMK ETEEGCNQKG AFL VEKTSTE VQCKGGNVCV QAQDRYYNSS CSKWACVPCR VRS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-12p40, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
