By fluorescence in situ hybridization, O'Dowd et al. (1997) mapped GPR20 to 8q24.2-q24.3, GPR21 to 9q33, GPR22 to 7q22-q31.1, and GPR23 to Xq13-q21.1.
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GPR21 in samples. An antibody specific for GPR21 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyGPR21 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for GPR21 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GPR21 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the G-protein-coupled receptor 1 family. G-protein coupled receptors are membrane proteins which activate signaling cascades as a response to extracellular stress. The encoded protein activates a Gq signal transduction pathway which mobilizes calcium. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2012]

Product Notes
The Human GPR21 gpr21 (Catalog #AAA281674) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA281674 ELISA Kit recognizes Human GPR21. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Probable G-protein coupled receptor 21, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
