Related Product Information for GPC3 recombinant protein
Background: Glypican-3, also known as Intestinal protein OCI-5, GPC3, and OCI5, is a member of the glypican family. It belongs to the glypican family and is highly expressed in the lung, liver, and kidney. It is a heparan sulfate proteoglycan, which is overexpressed in various neoplasms such as hepatocellular carcinoma, malignant melanoma, and testicular yolk sac tumor, and plays an important role in cell growth and differentiation. GPC3 function is tissue-dependent. In some tissues, GPC3 acts as a tumor suppressor gene, whereas in others, it acts as an oncofetal protein. Studies have shown that GPC3 is a reliable marker for hepatocellular carcinoma. The sensitivity and specificity exceed both alpha-fetoprotein and hepatocyte-paraffin1. GPC3 immunohistochemistry can aid in the differentiation of testicular germ cell tumors, being expressed in all yolk sac tumors but not in seminomas. GPC3 expression has also been identified in some squamous cell carcinomas of the lung and clear cell carcinomas of the ovary. The role of GPC3 in melanomas is still controversial. Thus, Glypican-3 is currently regarded as a tumor marker and potential target for immunotherapy.

Uniprot Description

GPC3: Cell surface proteoglycan that bears heparan sulfate. Inhibits the dipeptidyl peptidase activity of DPP4. May be involved in the suppression/modulation of growth in the predominantly mesodermal tissues and organs. May play a role in the modulation of IGF2 interactions with its receptor and thereby modulate its function. May regulate growth and tumor predisposition. Defects in GPC3 are the cause of Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome type 1 (SGBS1); also known as Simpson dysmorphia syndrome (SDYS). SGBS is a condition characterized by pre- and postnatal overgrowth (gigantism) with visceral and skeletal anomalies. Belongs to the glypican family.

Product Notes

The GPC3 gpc3 (Catalog #AAA8119992) is a Recombinant Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Met1-Ser55 0. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Glypican 3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
