Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses the Competitive-ELISA principle. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with LTB4. During the reaction, LTB4 in the sample or standard competes with a fixed amount of LTB4 on the solid phase supporter for sites on the Biotinylated Detection Ab specific to LTB4. Excess conjugate and unbound sample or standard are washed from the plate, and Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) are added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of stop solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of LTB4 in the samples is then determined by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The MAPEG (Membrane Associated Proteins in Eicosanoid and Glutathione metabolism) family includes a number of human proteins, several of which are involved the production of leukotrienes. This gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of cysteinyl leukotrienes, potent biological compounds derived from arachidonic acid. Leukotrienes have been implicated as mediators of anaphylaxis and inflammatory conditions such as human bronchial asthma. This protein localizes to the nuclear envelope and adjacent endoplasmic reticulum. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
LTC4S: Catalyzes the conjugation of leukotriene A4 with reduced glutathione to form leukotriene C4. Defects in LTC4S are the cause of leukotriene C4 synthase deficiency (LTC4 synthase deficiency). LTC4 synthase deficiency is a fatal neurometabolic developmental disorder. It is associated with muscular hypotonia, psychomotor retardation, failure to thrive, and microcephaly. Belongs to the MAPEG family.

Product Notes
The General LTC4 ltc4s (Catalog #AAA2540381) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2540381 ELISA Kit recognizes General LTC4. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LTC4 (Leukotriene C4), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
