Herpes Simplex Virus-1 gD; Herpes Simplex Virus-1 gD Recombinant; hsv-1; hsv1; herpes simplex; hhv; HSV-1 gD recombinant protein
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
E Coli
Purity/Purification
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Form/Format
Lyophilized from 25mM Tris-Hcl pH 7.2, 1mM EDTA and 50% glycerol.
Sequence Length
394
Application Notes
Recombinant human Herpesvirus-1 gD antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of HSV with minimal specificity problems.
Host Note
DNA sequence encoding immunodominant fragment of human Herpesvirus Glycoprotein D was expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Recombinant HSV-1 gD encodes the immunodominant sequences of the human Herpesvirus Glycoprotein D. This molecule has a calculated mass of approximately 16kDa.

Recombinant HSV1 gD contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 42 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for HSV-1 gD recombinant protein
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) glycoprotein D (gD) is essential for virus entry into cells, as well as for cell fusion and cell-to-cell spread. The functions of gD are best understood for virus entry, a process in which gD binds to "gD receptors," cell surface molecules that are more restricted in number than the glycosaminoglycans to which the virus initially adsorbs.

Uniprot Description

Function: Envelope glycoprotein that binds to the potential host cell entry receptors TNFRSF14/HVEM, PVRL1 and 3-O-sulfated heparan sulfate. May trigger fusion with host membrane, by recruiting the fusion machinery composed of gB and gH/gL

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Homodimer

By similarity. Interacts with host receptor TNFRSF14. Interacts with host receptor PVRL1. Interacts (via profusion domain) with gB; this interaction occurs in the absence of gH/gL. Interacts (via profusion domain) with gH/gL heterodimer; this interaction occurs in the absence of gB. Associates with the gB-gH/gL-gD complex. Interacts (via C-terminus) with UL11 tegument protein

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Virion membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein

By similarity. Note: During virion morphogenesis, this protein probably accumulates in the endosomes and trans-Golgi where secondary envelopment occurs

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the herpesviridae glycoprotein D family.

Product Notes

The HSV-1 gD gd (Catalog #AAA553221) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Recombinant human Herpesvirus-1 gD antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of HSV with minimal specificity problems. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HSV-1 gD gd for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Herpes Simplex Virus-1 gD, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
