Recombinant human GATM protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

Mutations in this gene cause arginine:glycine amidinotransferase deficiency, an inborn error of creatine synthesis characterized by cognitive disability, language impairment, and behavioral disorders.
