Scientific Background: FRS3 or fibroblast growth factor receptor substrate 3 is a peripheral plasma membrane protein that is a substrate for the fibroblast growth factor receptor. During FGF or NGF stimulation, FRS3 becomes tyrosine phosphorylated and then serves as a platform for the recruitment of multiple signaling proteins for activation of the Ras-MAP kinase signaling cascade (1). FRS3 is mainly expressed in fibroblast and myoblast cell lines and undergo robust tyrosine phosphorylation in response to several mitogenic ligands. Through interaction with Rho family of small GTPases, FRS3 has been implicated in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and subsequent morphological changes in various cells (2).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a substrate for the fibroblast growth factor receptor. The encoded protein is found in the peripheral plasma membrane and links fibroblast growth factor receptor stimulation to activators of Ras. The encoded protein down-regulates extracellular regulated kinase 2 through direct binding. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Uniprot Description

Function: Adapter protein that links FGF and NGF receptors to downstream signaling pathways. Involved in the activation of MAP kinases. Down-regulates ERK2 signaling by interfering with the phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of ERK2. Ref.6

Subunit structure: Binds NTRK1

By similarity. Binds FGFR1, NGFR, GRB2, PTPN11 and ERK2.

Subcellular location: Membrane; Lipid-anchor.

Post-translational modification: Phosphorylated by ULK2 in vitro

By similarity. Phosphorylated on tyrosine residues upon stimulation by BFGF or NGFB. Ref.1 Ref.6

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 IRS-type PTB domain.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAI13184.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous gene model prediction.

Product Notes

The FRS3 frs3 (Catalog #AAA515408) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is GST tag!!Expression System||Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus!!Source Note||Recombinant full-length human FRS3 was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells. AAA Biotech's FRS3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the FRS3 frs3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FRS3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
