Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to LZM. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated LZM. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP-conjugated LZM and LZM in samples. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of LZM in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes human lysozyme, whose natural substrate is the bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan (cleaving the beta[1-4]glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine). Lysozyme is one of the anti-microbial agents found in human milk, and is also present in spleen, lung, kidney, white blood cells, plasma, saliva, and tears. Missense mutations in LYZ have been identified in heritable renal amyloidosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Lysozymes have primarily a bacteriolytic function; those in tissues and body fluids are associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhance the activity of immunoagents.

Catalytic activity: Hydrolysis of (1->4)-beta-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in a peptidoglycan and between N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in chitodextrins.

Product Notes

The Fish LZM lyz (Catalog #AAA705789) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA705789 ELISA Kit recognizes Fish LZM. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "lysozyme (renal amyloidosis) (LZM), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
