NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
FCER1A: Binds to the Fc region of immunoglobulins epsilon. High affinity receptor. Responsible for initiating the allergic response. Binding of allergen to receptor-bound IgE leads to cell activation and the release of mediators (such as histamine) responsible for the manifestations of allergy. The same receptor also induces the secretion of important lymphokines.
Protein type: Membrane protein, integral
Cellular Component: cell surface; external side of plasma membrane; integral to plasma membrane; lipid raft
Molecular Function: IgE binding; IgE receptor activity; protein binding
Biological Process: activation of JNK activity; activation of MAPK activity; cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; leukotriene biosynthetic process; positive regulation of calcium-mediated signaling; positive regulation of granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor biosynthetic process; positive regulation of interleukin-3 biosynthetic process; positive regulation of mast cell degranulation; positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; positive regulation of type I hypersensitivity; serotonin secretion; signal transduction
