Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an extracellular matrix glycoprotein that is characterized by an N-terminal microfibril interface domain, a coiled-coiled alpha-helical domain, a collagenous domain and a C-terminal globular C1q domain. The encoded protein associates with elastic fibers at the interface between elastin and microfibrils and may play a role in the development of elastic tissues including large blood vessels, dermis, heart and lung. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

EMILIN1: May be responsible for anchoring smooth muscle cells to elastic fibers, and may be involved not only in the formation of the elastic fiber, but also in the processes that regulate vessel assembly. Has cell adhesive capacity.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Elastin Microfibril Interface Located Protein 1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
