Intended Uses: The Parvovirus B19 IgG (Recombinant) Enzyme Immunoassay Kit provides mate-rials for determination of IgG-class antibodies to Parvovirus B19 in serum.

Principle of the Assay: The Parvovirus B19 IgG (Recombinant) ELISA Kit is a solid phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Microtiter wells as a solid phase are coated with recombinant Parvovirus B19 antigen (VP1 proteins). Diluted unknowns and ready-for-use controls are pipetted into these wells. During incubation Par-vovirus B19-specific antibodies are bound to the immobilized antigens. After a washing step to remove unbound unknown and control material horseradish peroxidase conju-gated anti-human IgG antibodies are dispensed into the wells. During a second incubation this an-ti-IgG conjugate binds specifically to IgG antibodies resulting in the formation of enzyme-linked im-mune complexes. After a second washing step to remove unbound conjugate the immune complexes formed (in case of positive results) are detected by incubation with TMB substrate and development of a blue color. The blue color turns into yellow by stopping the enzymatic indicator reaction with acidic solution. The intensity of this color is directly proportional to the amount of Parvovirus B19-specific IgG antibody in the unknown. Absorbance at 450 nm is read using an ELISA microtiter plate reader.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a secreted extracellular matrix protein that functions in tissue development and regeneration, including wound healing, and ventricular remodeling following myocardial infarction. The encoded protein binds to integrins to support adhesion and migration of epithelial cells. This protein plays a role in cancer stem cell maintenance and metastasis. Mice lacking this gene exhibit cardiac valve disease, and skeletal and dental defects. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

Uniprot Description

POSTN: Binds to heparin. Induces cell attachment and spreading and plays a role in cell adhesion. May play a role in extracellular matrix mineralization. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The POSTN postn (Catalog #AAA495219) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Periostin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
