Related Product Information for CD40 Ligand/TRAP active protein
CD40, a member of the TNF receptor family, is a cell surface protein expressed on B cells, dendritic cells, monocytes, thymic epithelial cells and, at low levels, on T cells. Signaling though CD40 plays an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells, and is critical for immunoglobulin (Ig) class switching. The membrane-anchored CD40-Ligand is expressed almost exclusively on activated CD4+ T lymphocytes. Failure to express CD40L leads to "immunodeficiency with hyper-IgM", a disease characterized by failure to produce IgG, IgA and IgE. The soluble form of CD40L is an 18 kDa protein comprising the entire TNF homologous region of CD40L and is generated in vivo by an intracellular proteolytic processing of the full length CD40L. Recombinant murine CD40L is a soluble 16.4 kDa protein containing 149 amino acid residues comprising the receptor binding TNF-like domain of CD40L.

Uniprot Description

Function: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF5. Mediates B-cell proliferation in the absence of co-stimulus as well as IgE production in the presence of IL-4. Involved in immunoglobulin class switching

By similarity.

Subunit structure: Homotrimer.

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein. CD40 ligand, soluble form: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Specifically expressed on activated CD4+ T-lymphocytes.

Post-translational modification: The soluble form derives from the membrane form by proteolytic processing

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family.

Product Notes

The CD40 Ligand/TRAP cd40lg (Catalog #AAA691869) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse CD40 Ligand/TRAP, soluble reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MQRGDEDPQI AAHVVSEANS NAASVLQWAK KGYYTMKSNL VMLENG KQLT VKREGLYYVY TQVTFCSNRE PSSQRPFIVG LWLKPSSGSE R ILLKAANTH SSSQLCEQQS VHLGGVFELQ AGASVFVNVT EASQVIH RVG FSSFGLLKL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD40 Ligand/TRAP, soluble, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
