Related Product Information for CTGF active protein
CTGF is a member of the CCN family of secreted cysteine rich regulatory proteins and is the major mitogenic and chemoattractant protein produced by umbilical vein and vascular endothelial cells. CTGF stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes, induces angiogenesis, promotes cell adhesion of fibroblasts, endothelial, and epithelial cells, and binds to IGF, TGF beta1, and BMP-4. Cell migration and adhesion are signaled through binding to specific cell surface integrins and to heparin sulfate proteoglycans CTGF (98 a.a.), a lower molecular weight isoform containing the C-terminal portion of the full length CTGF protein, exerts full heparin binding, cell adhesion, and mitogenic CTGF activity. Recombinant human CTGF is a 11.0 kDa protein of 97 amino acid residues.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a mitogen that is secreted by vascular endothelial cells. The encoded protein plays a role in chondrocyte proliferation and differentiation, cell adhesion in many cell types, and is related to platelet-derived growth factor. Certain polymorphisms in this gene have been linked with a higher incidence of systemic sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

CTGF: Major connective tissue mitoattractant secreted by vascular endothelial cells. Promotes proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes. Mediates heparin- and divalent cation-dependent cell adhesion in many cell types including fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells. Enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced DNA synthesis. Belongs to the CCN family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The CTGF ctgf (Catalog #AAA696106) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human CTGF (98 a.a.) reacts with Species Reactivity: Human Cross Reactivity: Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: GKKCIRTPK ISKPIKFEL SGCTSMKTY RAKFCGVCT DGRCCTPHR TTTLPVEFK CPDGEVMKK NMMFIKTCA CHYNCPGDN DIFESLYYR KMYGDMA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CTGF, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
