Related Product Information for MCP-2 active protein
The MCP proteins belong to the CC chemokine family, and signal through CCR2 and, with the exception of MCP-1, other CCR receptors. The MCP proteins chemoattract and activate monocytes, activated T cells, basophils, NK cells, and immature dendritic cells. The MCP family cross- reacts across species. Recombinant murine MCP-2 is an 8.5 kDa protein containing 74 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in the CC chemokines.

Uniprot Description

CCL8: Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. May play a role in neoplasia and inflammatory host responses. This protein can bind heparin. The processed form MCP-2(6-76) does not show monocyte chemotactic activity, but inhibits the chemotactic effect most predominantly of CCL7, and also of CCL2 and CCL5 and CCL8. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Protein type: Chemokine; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Cellular Component: extracellular space; extracellular region

Molecular Function: heparin binding; chemokine activity; cytokine activity

Biological Process: immune response; inflammatory response; chemotaxis; positive regulation of myoblast differentiation

Product Notes

The MCP-2 ccl8 (Catalog #AAA696155) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Murine MCP-2 (CCL8) reacts with Species Reactivity: Mouse Cross Reactivity: Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: GPDKAPVTC CFHVLKLKI PLRVLKSYE RINNIQCPM EAVVFQTKQ GMSLCVDPT QKWVSEYME ILDQKSQIL QP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MCP-2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
