Related Product Information for NAP-2 active protein
NAP-2 is a CXC chemokine that can signal through the CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors. It is produced in leukocytes by enzymatic processing of a precursor called platelet basic protein (PBP). NAP-2 chemoattracts and activates neutrophils. Recombinant human NAP-2 protein is a 7.6 kDa protein containing 70 amino acid residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines, and also including the "ELR" motif common to CXC chemokines that bind to CXCR1 and CXCR2.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the nucleosome assembly protein (NAP) family which can interact with both core and linker histones. It can shuttle between the cytoplasm and nucleus, suggesting a role as a histone chaperone. This gene is one of several located near the imprinted gene domain of 11p15.5, an important tumor-suppressor gene region. Alterations in this region have been associated with the Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, and lung, ovarian, and breast cancer. Uniprot Description

Subcellular location: Nucleus.

Tissue specificity: Ubiquitous. Biallelically expressed in fetal and adult tissues. Highest levels in testis.

Post-translational modification: Polyglutamylated by TTLL4, a modification that occurs exclusively on glutamate residues and results in polyglutamate chains on the gamma-carboxyl group. Some residues may also be monoglycylated but not polyglycylated due to the absence of functional TTLL10 in human

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the nucleosome assembly protein (NAP) family.

Product Notes

The NAP-2 nap1l4 (Catalog #AAA692103) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human NAP-2 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: AELRCMCIKT TSGIHPKNIQ SLEVIGKGTH CNQVEVIATL KDGRKI CLDP DAPRIKKIVQ KKLAGDESA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NAP-2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
