Related Product Information for IL-20 active protein
IL-20 is a member of the IL-10 family of regulatory cytokines which includes IL-10, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, IL-24 and IL-26. Members of this family share partial homology in their amino acid sequences but they are dissimilar in their biological functions. IL-20 is a hematopoietic growth factor capable of stimulating colony formation by CD34+ multipotential progenitors, but not by other progenitor cells. IL-20 signals through a receptor system composed of type I IL-20R-alpha and type II IL-20R-beta. Over-expression of IL-20 in keratinocytes expressing both receptor subunits has been implicated in the induction of inflammatory skin disease. Recombinant human IL-20 is a 35.2 kDa homodimeric protein consisting of two 153 amino acid polypeptide chains.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine structurally related to interleukin 10 (IL10). This cytokine has been shown to transduce its signal through signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in keratinocytes. A specific receptor for this cytokine is found to be expressed in skin and upregulated dramatically in psoriatic skin, suggesting a role for this protein in epidermal function and psoriasis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Cytokine that may be involved in epidermal function and psoriasis. Acts through STAT3.

Subcellular location: Secreted.

Tissue specificity: Expressed at very low levels in skin, trachea, and other tissues.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IL-10 family.

Product Notes

The IL-20 il20 (Catalog #AAA691859) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human IL-20 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MLKTLNLGSC VIATNLQEIR NGFSEIRGSV QAKDGNIDIR ILRRTE SLQD TKPANRCCLL RHLLRLYLDR VFKNYQTPDH YTLRKISSLA N SFLTIKKDL RLCHAHMTCH CGEEAMKKYS QILSHFEKLE PQAAVVK ALG ELDILLQWME ETE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-20, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
