Related Product Information for EPGN active protein
Epigen is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the ErbB receptor-1. It is produced in several tissues, including the testis, liver, heart and in certain tumor cells. Epigen is mitogenic for fibroblasts and epithelial cells. Human Epigen is initially synthesized as a glycosylated 14.7 kDa transmembrane precursor protein, which is processed by proteolytic cleavage to produce a mature soluble sequence. Recombinant human Epigen is a 7.9 kDa monomeric protein, containing 72 amino acid residues, which comprises the EGF homologous portion of the Epigen precursor.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the epidermal growth factor family. Members of this family are ligands for the epidermal growth factor receptor and play a role in cell survival, proliferation and migration. This protein has been reported to have high mitogenic activity but low affinity for its receptor. Expression of this transcript and protein have been reported in cancer specimens of the breast, bladder, and prostate. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Product Notes

The EPGN epgn (Catalog #AAA691569) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Human Epigen reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: AVTVTPPITA QQADNIEGPI ALKFSHLCLE DHNSYCINGA CAFHHE LEKA ICRCFTGYTG ERCEHLTLTS YA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epigen, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
