Description: Casein Kinase 2 beta Human Recombinant is a non-glycosylated polypeptide having a molecular mass of 24.9 kDa. Casein Kinase 2 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: The Casein kinase 2 (EC2.7.11.1) is a serine/threonine-selective protein kinasethat is a tetramer of two alpha subunits and two beta subunits. The alpha subunits have the catalytic kinase domain. Casein kinase 2 has been implicated in cell cyclecontrol, DNA repair, regulation of the circadian rhythmand other cellular processes.Casein kinase 2 activity has been reported to be activated following Wnt signaling pathwayactivation. A Pertussis toxin-sensitive G proteinand Disheveled appear to be an intermediary between Wnt-mediated activation of the Frizzled receptor and activation of casein kinase 2.Mice that lack casein kinase 2 alpha prime have a defect in the morphology of developing sperm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the beta subunit of casein kinase II, a ubiquitous protein kinase which regulates metabolic pathways, signal transduction, transcription, translation, and replication. The enzyme is composed of three subunits, alpha, alpha prime and beta, which form a tetrameric holoenzyme. The alpha and alpha prime subunits are catalytic, while the beta subunit serves regulatory functions. The enzyme localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]

Uniprot Description

CK2B: a regulatory subunit of the casein kinase 2 holoenzyme. Exists as a tetramer composed of two catalytic subunits, alpha and alpha-prime, and two regulatory beta subunits. The beta subunits undergo autophosphorylation. Plays a complex role in regulating the basal catalytic activity of the alpha subunit. Participates in Wnt signaling

Product Notes

The CK2b csnk2b (Catalog #AAA142755) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Casein Kinase 2 beta Active, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
