Related Product Information for SULT1A1 active protein
Recombinant enzyme corresponding to Glu2-Leu295 with a N-terminal Met and 6 His tag of human Sulfotransferase 1A1 expressed in E. coli.

Cytosolic sulfotransferases catalyze the sulfonation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. They are distinct from Golgi resident sulfotransferases by the absence of transmembrane domains and are located in the cytoplasm. SULT1A1 is one of two phenol sulfotransferases with thermostable enzyme activity. The enzyme is more specific for sulfonation on catecholamines, phenolic drugs and neurotransmitters. Because of its ability to modify diverse promutagen and procarcinogen xenobiotics, it is implicated in a range of cancers. The crystal structure of the enzyme reveals that its active site is flexible and can accommodate diverse hydrophobic substrates with varying sizes, shapes and flexibility.

NCBI Description

Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene encodes one of two phenol sulfotransferases with thermostable enzyme activity. Multiple alternatively spliced variants that encode two isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

SULT1A1: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of catecholamines, phenolic drugs and neurotransmitters. Has also estrogen sulfotransferase activity. responsible for the sulfonation and activation of minoxidil. Is Mediates the metabolic activation of carcinogenic N- hydroxyarylamines to DNA binding products and could so participate as modulating factor of cancer risk. Belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SULT1A1 sult1a1 (Catalog #AAA637872) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Sulfotransferase 1A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SULT1A1 sult1a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Sulfotransferase 1A1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
