Related Product Information for MYH14 active protein
Non muscle Myosins are required for cytokinesis at the end of cell division, when a contractile ring near the plasmalemma divides the cytoplasm of the daughter cells. They are involved in cytoplasmic streaming movements in tissues, and especially in activation of motile cells such as fibroblasts and macrophages. Activation of non-muscle myosin-II is achieved by phosphorylation of Ser33 in the motif KKRPQRATSN by a dedicated, Ca+2 Calmodulin regulated light chain kinase (MLCK).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the myosin superfamily. The protein represents a conventional non-muscle myosin; it should not be confused with the unconventional myosin-14 (MYO14). Myosins are actin-dependent motor proteins with diverse functions including regulation of cytokinesis, cell motility, and cell polarity. Mutations in this gene result in one form of autosomal dominant hearing impairment. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

MYH14: Cellular myosin that appears to play a role in cytokinesis, cell shape, and specialized functions such as secretion and capping. Myosin is a hexameric protein that consists of 2 heavy chain subunits (MHC), 2 alkali light chain subunits (MLC) and 2 regulatory light chain subunits (MLC-2). High levels of expression are found in small intestine, colon and skeletal muscle. Expression is low in organs composed mainly of smooth muscle, such as aorta, uterus and urinary bladder. No detectable expression is found in thymus, spleen, placenta and lymphocytes. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The MYH14 myh14 (Catalog #AAA636682) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Inhibition Assays. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MYH14 myh14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MSSKKAKTKT TKKRPQRATS NVFAMFDQSQ IQEFKEAFNM IDQNRDGFID KEDLHDMLAS LGKNPTDAYL DAMMNEAPGP INFTMFLTMF GEKLNGTDPE DVIRNAFACF DEEATGTIQE DYLRELLTTM GDRFTDEEVD ELYREAPIDK KGNFNYIEFT RILKHGAKDK DD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Myosin Light Chain 2, Non-muscle, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
