Purity/Purification
Highly Purified
Greater than 99% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analyses. Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng perug of (1EU/ug) of murine MCP-5.
Form/Format
Lyophilized protein with no additives.
Biological Activity
The biological activity of murine MCP-5 was determined by a chemotaxis assay using human peripheral blood monocytes. Significant chemotaxis was achieved using a concentration of 50 ng/ml.
Reconstitution
The lyophilized murine MCP-5 is soluble in water and most aqueous buffers. The lyophilized protein can be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions or stored at -20 degree C for future use.
Preparation and Storage
-20 degree C
Stability: The lyophilized murine MCP-5, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated below 0 degree C. Reconstituted murine MCP-5 should be stored in working aliquots at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for mcp5 active protein
Murine macrophage/monocyte chemotactic protein-5 (MCP-5) is a member of the beta-chemokine family (C-C) of cytokines. This chemokine is strongly chemotactic for human monocytes and murine peritoneal macrophages, but is not active on mouse neutrophils and shows only a weak response on mouse eosinophils at high concentrations. Murine MCP-5 is a peptide of 9.2kD that consists of 82 amino acid residues.

Uniprot Description

Function: Involved in chromosome segregation. Facilitates nuclear oscillation during meiotic prophase I, the 'horsetail' phase, by acting as a dynein anchor. Essential for anchoring dhc1 to the cortex. Required for proper sliding of the microtubules along the cell cortex, which leads to the proper U-turn movement of the nucleus. Ref.1 Ref.3 Ref.4

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cell cortex. Note: Localizes to the cell cortex during the 'horsetail' phase of mitosis. Ref.1 Ref.4 Ref.5

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 PH domain.

Product Notes

The mcp5 mcp5 (Catalog #AAA651031) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MCP5, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
