Related Product Information for BLMH active protein
BLMH, also known as bleomycin hydrolase, is a member of the papain superfamily of the cysteine protease and the peptidase C1 family. It is a cytoplasmic cysteinepeptidase commonly found as a homohexamer. The normal physiological role of BLMH is unknown, but it protects normal and malignant cells from the glycopeptide antitumor drug Blm. It catalyzes the inactivation of the antitumor drug Blm (a glycopeptide) by hydrolyzing the carboxyamide bond of its B-aminoalaninamide moiety and also shows general aminopeptidase activity. Recombinant mouse BLMH protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

NCBI Description

The encoded protein is a cytoplasmic cysteine peptidase involved in inactivation of bleomycin, a glycopeptide which is a component of combination chemotherapy regimens for cancer. This encoded enzyme is highly conserved, and it contains the signature active site residues of cysteine protease papain superfamily enzymes. It is postulated that this enzyme has protective effects against bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis and bleomycin tumor resistance. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

BLMH: The normal physiological role of BLM hydrolase is unknown, but it catalyzes the inactivation of the antitumor drug BLM (a glycopeptide) by hydrolyzing the carboxamide bond of its B- aminoalaninamide moiety thus protecting normal and malignant cells from BLM toxicity. Belongs to the peptidase C1 family.

Product Notes

The BLMH blmh (Catalog #AAA201145) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-455aa. AAA Biotech's BLMH can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE, Enzyme Activity. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BLMH blmh for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MGS MNNAGLN SEKVSALIQK LNSDPQFVLA QNVGTTHDLL DICLRRATVQ GAQHVFQHVV PQEGKPVTNQ KSSGRCWIFS CLNVMRLPFM KKFNIEEFEF SQSYLFFWDK VERCYFFLNA FVDTAQKKEP EDGRLVQYLL MNPTNDGGQW DMLVNIVEKY GVVPKKCFPE SHTTEATRRM NDILNHKMRE FCIRLRNLVH SGATKGEISS TQDAMMEEIF RVVCICLGNP PETFTWEYRD KDKNYHKIGP ITPLQFYKEH VKPLFNMEDK ICFVNDPRPQ HKYNKLYTVD YLSNMVGGRK TLYNNQPIDF LKKMVAASIK DGEAVWFGCD VGKHFNGKLG LSDMNVYDHE LVFGVSLKNM NKAERLAFGE SLMTHAMTFT AVSEKDNQEG TFVKWRVENS WGEDHGHKGY LCMTDEWFSE YVYEVVVDKK HVPEEVLAVL EQEPIVLPAW DPMGALAE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BLMH, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
