Related Product Information for ALDH3A1 active protein
Background: ALDH3A1, also known as Aldehyde dehydrogenase 3 family memberA1, is involved in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde and in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. This protein forms a cytoplasmic homodimer that preferentially oxidizes aromatic and medium-chain (6 carbons or more) saturated and unsaturated aldehyde substrates. It is thought to promote resistance to UV and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal-induced oxidative damage in the cornea.

NCBI Description

Aldehyde dehydrogenases oxidize various aldehydes to the corresponding acids. They are involved in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde and in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. The enzyme encoded by this gene forms a cytoplasmic homodimer that preferentially oxidizes aromatic and medium-chain (6 carbons or more) saturated and unsaturated aldehyde substrates. It is thought to promote resistance to UV and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal-induced oxidative damage in the cornea. The gene is located within the Smith-Magenis syndrome region on chromosome 17. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]

Uniprot Description

ALDH3A1: ALDHs play a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde. They are involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. This protein preferentially oxidizes aromatic aldehyde substrates. It may play a role in the oxidation of toxic aldehydes. Belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family.

Product Notes

The ALDH3A1 aldh3a1 (Catalog #AAA844357) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's ALDH3A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ALDH3A1 aldh3a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MSKISEAVKR ARAAFSSGRT RPLQFRIQQL EALQRLIQEQ EQELVGALAA DLHKNEWNAY YEEVVYVLEE IEYMIQKLPE WAADEPVEKT PQTQQDELYI HSEPLGVVLV IGTWNYPFNL TIQPMVGAIA AGNAVVLKPS ELSENMASLL ATIIPQYLDK DLYPVINGGV PETTELLKER FDHILYTGST GVGKIIMTAA AKHLTPVTLE LGGKSPCYVD KNCDLDVACR RIAWGKFMNS GQTCVAPDYI LCDPSIQNQI VEKLKKSLKE FYGEDAKKSR DYGRIISARH FQRVMGLIEG QKVAYGGTGD AATRYIAPTI LTDVDPQSPV MQEEIFGPVL PIVCVRSLEE AIQFINQREK PLALYMFSSN DKVIKKMIAE TSSGGVAAND VIVHITLHSL PFGGVGNSGM GSYHGKKSFE TFSHRRSCLV RPLMNDEGLK VRYPPSPAKM TQH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ALDH3A1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
