Related Product Information for AK1 active protein
AK1 is an enzyme involved in regulating the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of the terminal phosphate group between ATP and AMP. This protein is found in the cytosol of skeletal muscle, brain and erythrocytes. It is a small ubiquitous enzyme which is essential for maintenance and cell growth. Defects in AK1 are the cause of a form of hemolytic anemia. Recombinant human AK1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes an adenylate kinase enzyme involved in energy metabolism and homeostasis of cellular adenine nucleotide ratios in different intracellular compartments. This gene is highly expressed in skeletal muscle, brain and erythrocytes. Certain mutations in this gene resulting in a functionally inadequate enzyme are associated with a rare genetic disorder causing nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2015]

Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the reversible transfer of the terminal phosphate group between ATP and AMP. Also displays broad nucleoside diphosphate kinase activity. Plays an important role in cellular energy homeostasis and in adenine nucleotide metabolism.

Product Notes

The AK1 ak1 (Catalog #AAA203814) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's AK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AK1 ak1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MEEKLKKTKI IFVVGGPGSG KGTQCEKIVQ KYGYTHLSTG DLLRSEVSSG SARGKKLSEI MEKGQLVPLE TVLDMLRDAM VAKVNTSKGF LIDGYPREVQ QGEEFERRIG QPTLLLYVDA GPETMTQRLL KRGETSGRVD DNEETIKKRL ETYYKATEPV IAFYEKRGIV RKVNAEGSVD SVFSQVCTHL DALK. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "AK1, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
