Uniprot Description

Function: Specifically required for the degradation process of misfolded endoplasmic reticulum (ER) luminal proteins. Probably participates in the transfer of misfolded proteins from the ER to the cytosol, where they are destroyed by the proteasome in a ubiquitin-dependent manner. Ref.1

Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Ref.1.

Induction: Up-regulated by the unfolded protein response (UPR). Ref.5

Miscellaneous: Present with 238 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the derlin family.

Sequence caution: The sequence CAA79688.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Frameshift at position 40.

Product Notes

The DER1 der1 (Catalog #AAA1003321) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli or Yeast or Baculovirus or Mammalian Cell and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 1-211. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MDAVILNLLG DIPLVTRLWT IGCLVLSGLT SLRIVDPGKV VYSYDLVFKK GQYGRLLYSI FDYGAFNWIS MINIFVSANH LSTLENSFNL RRKFCWIIFL LLVILVKMTS IEQPAASLGV LLHENLVYYE LKKNGNQMNV RFFGAIDVSP SIFPIYMNAV MYFVYKRSWL EIAMNFMPGH VIYYMDDIIG KIYGIDLCKS PYDWFRNTET P. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Degradation in the endoplasmic reticulum protein 1 (DER1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
