Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CTSG in samples. An antibody specific for CTSG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCTSG present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CTSG is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CTSG bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the peptidase S1 (chymotrypsin) family of serine endopeptidases. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate a mature protein product. This product appears to play a role in host defense, including inflammation and antigen processing. Homozygous knockout mice for this gene exhibit enhanced susceptibility to bacterial and fungal infection. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]
