NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of three natriuretic peptide receptors. Natriutetic peptides are small peptides which regulate blood volume and pressure, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac function as well as some metabolic and growth processes. The product of this gene encodes a natriuretic peptide receptor responsible for clearing circulating and extracellular natriuretic peptides through endocytosis of the receptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

ANP-C: Receptor for the natriuretic peptide hormones, binding with similar affinities atrial natriuretic peptide NPPA/ANP, brain natriuretic peptide NPPB/BNP, and C-type natriuretic peptide NPPC/CNP. May function as a clearance receptor for NPPA, NPPB and NPPC, regulating their local concentrations and effects. May regulate diuresis, blood pressure and skeletal development. Does not have guanylate cyclase activity. Belongs to the ANF receptor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, GPCR

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5p13.3

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: adenylate cyclase activity; hormone binding; natriuretic peptide receptor activity; peptide hormone binding; peptide receptor activity, G-protein coupled

Biological Process: cAMP biosynthetic process; cAMP-mediated signaling; cyclic nucleotide biosynthetic process; G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase activating pathway; G-protein signaling, adenylate cyclase inhibiting pathway; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase activity; regulation of blood pressure; regulation of osteoblast proliferation; skeletal development

Product Notes

The NPR3 npr3 (Catalog #AAA427478) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NPR3 Immunizing Peptide reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Pig, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. The amino acid sequence is listed below: C-HRELREDS IRSHFS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NPR3, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
