NCBI Description

The highly conserved RNA polymerase II transcription factor TFIID (see TAF1; MIM 313650) comprises the TATA box-binding protein (TBP; MIM 600075) and a set of TBP-associated factors (TAFs), including TAF3. TAFs contribute to promoter recognition and selectivity and act as antiapoptotic factors (Gangloff et al., 2001 [PubMed 11438666]).[supplied by OMIM, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

TAF140: Transcription factor TFIID is one of the general factors required for accurate and regulated initiation by RNA polymerase II. TFIID is a multimeric protein complex that plays a central role in mediating promoter responses to various activators and repressors. Required in complex with TBPL2 for the differentiation of myoblasts into myocytes. The complex replaces TFIID at specific promoters at an early stage in the differentiation process. Belongs to the TAF3 family.

Protein type: Transcription initiation complex

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10p15.1

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; transcription factor TFIID complex; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; p53 binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; viral reproduction; negative regulation of transcription factor activity; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; gene expression; maintenance of protein localization in nucleus; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter

Product Notes

The Chicken TAF3 taf3 (Catalog #AAA7242053) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7242053 ELISA Kit recognizes Chicken TAF3. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Transcription initiation factor TFIID subunit 3 (TAF3), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
