Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Chicken AQP-2 antibody. AQP-2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Chicken AQP-2 Antibody is added and binds to AQP-2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated AQP-2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Chicken AQP-2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes a water channel protein located in the kidney collecting tubule. It belongs to the MIP/aquaporin family, some members of which are clustered together on chromosome 12q13. Mutations in this gene have been linked to autosomal dominant and recessive forms of nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
