Rat Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 ELISA Kit
Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to target antigen. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific for target antigen and then avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then a TMB substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain target antigen, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The concentration of target antigen in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
serine/threonine kinase involved in synaptic regulation and neuronal development; phosphorylates synaptic protein Pctaire1; regulates acetylcholine receptor expression [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
CDK5: a protein kinase of the CDK family. Unlike other members of this family, it is not activated by cyclins but by p35 (CDK5R1) and p39. An important regulator of neuronal positioning during brain development. May also play a role in synaptogenesis and neurotransmission. Substrates include TAU, MAP2, NF-H and -M, Nudel, PDE6, beta-catenin, amphyphysin, dynamin I, synapsin 1, Munc-18, and NMDA receptor 2A. Plays a role in myogenesis, haematopoietic cell differentiation, spermatogenesis, insulin secretion, and lens differentiation. Implicated in the pathology of neurofibrillary tangles and formation of senile plaques, hallmarks of Alzheimer?s disease. Induces tau phosphorylation and aggregation and neurofibrillary tangle deposition and neurodegeneration in in vitro and in vivo animal models. Brain samples from Alzeimer?s pateints show elevated CDK5 activity.

Product Notes
The Rat Cdk5 cdk5 (Catalog #AAA288634) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA288634 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat Cdk5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cyclin-dependent kinase 5, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
