Recombinant Rat CD59 / CD59A / MAC / IP Protein (His tag)
Description: A DNA sequence encoding the rat CD59 (P27274) (Met1-Asn100) was expressed, fused with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
may play a role in regulation of complement; may bind complement proteins C8 and C9 [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
CD59: Potent inhibitor of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) action. Acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9 complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventing incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for complete formation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to be species-specific. Involved in signal transduction for T-cell activation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. Defects in CD59 are the cause of CD59 deficiency (CD59D).
Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q32
Cellular Component: anchored to external side of plasma membrane; cell surface; compact myelin; extracellular space; focal adhesion; plasma membrane; sarcolemma; vesicle
Molecular Function: complement binding
Biological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; negative regulation of activation of membrane attack complex; negative regulation of apoptosis; negative regulation of complement activation; negative regulation of cytolysis; positive regulation of T cell proliferation

Product Notes
The CD59 / CD59A / MAC / IP cd59 (Catalog #AAA2547365) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The recombinant rat CD59 /Fc comprises 89 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 10.3 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 17 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD59 / CD59A / MAC / IP cd59 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD59 / CD59A / MAC / IP, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
