Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for CCT6A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CCT6A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CCT6A is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CCT6A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Alternate transcriptional splice variants of this gene, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. In addition, several pseudogenes of this gene have been located. Uniprot Description

CCT-zeta: Molecular chaperone; assists the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. Known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin. Belongs to the TCP-1 chaperonin family.

Protein type: Chaperone

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p11.2

Cellular Component: chaperonin-containing T-complex; microtubule; cytoplasm; acrosome; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; unfolded protein binding; ATP binding

Biological Process: 'de novo' posttranslational protein folding; cellular protein metabolic process; protein folding; binding of sperm to zona pellucida

Product Notes

The Human CCT6A cct6a (Catalog #AAA918549) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA918549 ELISA Kit recognizes Human CCT6A. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 6A (zeta 1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
