Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for C1QTNF6 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any C1QTNF6 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for C1QTNF6 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of C1QTNF6 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a serine protease, which is a major constituent of the human complement subcomponent C1. C1s associates with two other complement components C1r and C1q in order to yield the first component of the serum complement system. Defects in this gene are the cause of selective C1s deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Uniprot Description

C1S: C1s B chain is a serine protease that combines with C1q and C1r to form C1, the first component of the classical pathway of the complement system. C1r activates C1s so that it can, in turn, activate C2 and C4. Defects in C1S are the cause of complement component C1s deficiency (C1SD). A rare defect resulting in C1 deficiency and impaired activation of the complement classical pathway. C1 deficiency generally leads to severe immune complex disease with features of systemic lupus erythematosus and glomerulonephritis. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family.

Product Notes

The Human C1S c1s (Catalog #AAA944509) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA944509 ELISA Kit recognizes Human C1S. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "complement component 1, s subcomponent, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
