Intended Uses: This C.ALBICANS ELISA kit is intended for laboratory research use only. The stop solution changes the color from blue to yellow and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm using a spectrophotometer. In order to measure the concentration of C.ALBICANS in the sample, this C.ALBICANS ELISA Kit includes a set of calibration standards. The calibration standards are assayed at the same time as the samples and allow the operator to produce a standard curve of Optical Density versus C.ALBICANS concentration. The concentration of in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

Principle of the Assay: The coated well immunoenzymatic assay for the quantitative measurement of C.ALBICANS utilizes a multiclonal anti-C.ALBICANS antibody and an C.ALBICANS-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with C.ALBICANS-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the C.ALBICANS concentration since C.ALBICANS from samples and C.ALBICANS-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-C.ALBICANS antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by C.ALBICANS from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind C.ALBICANS-HRP conjugate. Standards of known C.ALBICANS concentrations are run concurrently with the samples being assayed and a standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (Optical Density) to the concentration of C.ALBICANS. The C.ALBICANS concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This intronless gene encodes a transcription factor that contains a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) domain and recognizes the CCAAT motif in the promoters of target genes. The encoded protein functions in homodimers and also heterodimers with CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteins beta and gamma. Activity of this protein can modulate the expression of genes involved in cell cycle regulation as well as in body weight homeostasis. Mutation of this gene is associated with acute myeloid leukemia. The use of alternative in-frame non-AUG (GUG) and AUG start codons results in protein isoforms with different lengths. Differential translation initiation is mediated by an out-of-frame, upstream open reading frame which is located between the GUG and the first AUG start codons. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]

Uniprot Description

C/EBP-alpha: a bZIP transcription factor which can form homodimers or heterodimers with the related proteins CEBP-beta and CEBP-gamma. Binds to the promoter and modulate the expression of the gene encoding leptin, a protein that plays an important role in body weight homeostasis. Can interact with CDK2 and CDK4, thereby inhibiting these kinases and causing growth arrest in cultured cells.

Product Notes

The Rabbit C/EBPalpha cebpa (Catalog #AAA731907) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA731907 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit C/EBPalpha. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CCAAT/Enhancer binding protein alpha, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
