Related Product Information for Apelin elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: APLN ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-APLN antibody and an APLN-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with APLN-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the APLN concentration since APLN from samples and APLN-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-APLN antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by APLN from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind APLN-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The APLN concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a peptide that functions as an endogenous ligand for the G protein coupled receptor APJ. The encoded protein is synthesized as a prepropeptide that is processed into biologically active C-terminal fragments. The peptide fragments activate different tissue specific signaling pathways that regulate diverse biological functions including fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function and insulin secretion. This protein also functions as a coreceptor for the human immunodeficiency virus 1.[provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]

Uniprot Description

apelin: Endogenous ligand for APJ, an alternative coreceptor with CD4 for HIV-1 infection. Inhibits HIV-1 entry in cells coexpressing CD4 and APJ. Apelin-36 has a greater inhibitory activity on HIV infection than other synthetic apelin derivatives. The oral intake in the colostrum and the milk could have a role in the modulation of the immune responses in neonates. May also have a role in the central control of body fluid homeostasis by influencing AVP release and drinking behavior. Belongs to the apelin family.

Product Notes

The Bovine Apelin apln (Catalog #AAA738042) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA738042 ELISA Kit recognizes Bovine Apelin. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Total Apelin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
