Preparation and Storage
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
To minimize extra influence on the performance, operation procedures and lab conditions, especially room temperature, air humidity, incubator temperature should be strictly controlled. It is also strongly suggested that the whole assay is performed by the same operator from the beginning to the end.

Related Product Information for CTSD elisa kit
This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific to Cathepsin D (CTSD) has been pre-coated onto a microplate. A competitive inhibition reaction is launched between biotin labeled Cathepsin D (CTSD) and unlabeled Cathepsin D (CTSD) (Standards or samples) with the pre-coated antibody specific to Cathepsin D (CTSD). After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. Next, avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. The amount of bound HRP conjugate is reverse proportional to the concentration of Cathepsin D (CTSD) in the sample. After addition of the substrate solution, the intensity of color developed is reverse proportional to the concentration of Cathepsin D (CTSD) in the sample.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the A1 family of peptidases. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate multiple protein products. These products include the cathepsin D light and heavy chains, which heterodimerize to form the mature enzyme. This enzyme exhibits pepsin-like activity and plays a role in protein turnover and in the proteolytic activation of hormones and growth factors. Mutations in this gene play a causal role in neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis-10 and may be involved in the pathogenesis of several other diseases, including breast cancer and possibly Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]

Uniprot Description

Acid protease active in intracellular protein breakdown. Plays a role in APP processing following cleavage and activation by ADAM30 which leads to APP degradation (PubMed:27333034). Involved in the pathogenesis of several diseases such as breast cancer and possibly Alzheimer disease.

Product Notes

The Bovine CTSD ctsd (Catalog #AAA2700500) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2700500 ELISA Kit recognizes Bovine CTSD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cathepsin D (CTSD), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
