100
Unit Defenition
1 Unit corresponds to 1 biological kallikrein inhibitor unit (KIU)1 TIU =1,300 KIU.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Aprotinin in sterile 18M Omega -cm H2O not less than 100 ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Activity
6,246 KIU (Kallikrein Inactivator Units) per mg, 3.47 TIU/mg.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized Aprotinin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18 degree C. Upon reconstitution Aprotinin should be stored at 4 degree C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18 degree C.For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for BPI active protein
Description: Aprotinin is a natural proteinase inhibitor polypeptide consisting of fifty-eight amino acids {C 284 H 432 N 84 O 79 S 7} arranged in a single polypeptide chain, cross-linked by three disulfide bridges and having a molecular mass of 6512.

Introduction: Aprotinin inhibits the activity of several proteolytic enzymes such as chymotrypsin, kallikrein, plasmin and trypsin. Aprotinin is present in blood and in most tissues, with a high concentration in lung. Aprotinin inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokine release and maintains glycoprotein homeostasis. In platelets, aprotinin reduces glycoprotein loss (e.g., GpIb, GpIIb/IIIa), while in granulocytes it prevents the expression of pro-inflammatory adhesive glycoproteins (e.g., CD11b).

Product Notes

The Aprotinin bpi (Catalog #AAA142841) is an Active Protein produced from Bovine Lung and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aprotinin, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
