Related Product Information for BLVRB recombinant protein
Description: BLVRB Human Recombinant amino produced in E Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 206 amino acids having a molecular mass of 22.1 kDa.The BLVRB is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Introduction: BLVRB (EC 1.3.1.24) catalyzes electron transfer from reduced pyridine nucleotides to flavins as well as methylene blue, pyrroloquinoline quinone, riboflavin, or methemoglobin. BLVRB is involved in protecting cells from oxidative damage or in regulating iron metabolism. BLVRB converts biliverdin to bilirubin in the liver, converting a double-bond between the second and third pyrrole ring into a single-bond. BLVRB plays a role as in human erythrocytic heme catabolic pathway and most mammalian species. Biliverdin reductase is abundantly expressed in kidney, spleen, liver and brain as well as at lower levels in the thymus and minimal levels being detected in testis.

NCBI Description

The final step in heme metabolism in mammals is catalyzed by the cytosolic biliverdin reductase enzymes A and B (EC 1.3.1.24).[supplied by OMIM, Jul 2009]

Uniprot Description

BLVRB: Broad specificity oxidoreductase that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of a variety of flavins, such as riboflavin, FAD or FMN, biliverdins, methemoglobin and PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone). Contributes to heme catabolism and metabolizes linear tetrapyrroles. Can also reduce the complexed Fe(3+) iron to Fe(2+) in the presence of FMN and NADPH. In the liver, converts biliverdin to bilirubin.

Protein type: EC 1.5.1.30; Oxidoreductase; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - porphyrin and chlorophyll; EC 1.3.1.24

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19q13.1-q13.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; cytosol

Molecular Function: flavin reductase activity; biliverdin reductase activity

Biological Process: heme catabolic process; porphyrin metabolic process

Product Notes

The BLVRB blvrb (Catalog #AAA143858) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MAVKKIAIFG ATGQTGLTTL AQAVQAGYEV TVLVRDSSRL PSEGPRPAHV VVGDVLQAAD VDKTVAGQDA VIVLLGTRND LSPTTVMSEG ARNIVAAMKA HGVDKVVACT SAFLLWDPTK VPPRLQAVTD DHIRMHKVLR ESGLKYVAVM PPHIGDQPLT GAYTVTLDGR GPSRVISKHD LGHFMLRCLT TDEYDGHSTY PSHQYQ. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Biliverdin Reductase B, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
