Related Product Information for THOC4 blocking peptide
Blocking peptides are peptides that bind specifically to the target antibody and block antibody binding. These peptide usually contains the epitope recognized by the antibody. Antibodies bound to the blocking peptide no longer bind to the epitope on the target protein. This mechanism is useful when non-specific binding is an issue, for example, in Western blotting (immunoblot) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). By comparing the staining from the blocked antibody versus the antibody alone, one can see which staining is specific; Specific binding will be absent from the western blot or immunostaining performed with the neutralized antibody.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a heat stable, nuclear protein and functions as a molecular chaperone. It is thought to regulate dimerization, DNA binding, and transcriptional activity of basic region-leucine zipper (bZIP) proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

THOC4: a chaperone protein that promotes the dimerization of transcription factors containing basic leucine zipper (bZIP) domains thus promoting transcriptional activation. Plays a role in mRNA processing and export. May function as scaffold that mediates interactions between proteins and/or RNA. Integral part of the THO/TREX complex that is recruited to transcribed genes and travels with the RNA polymerase during elongation. Is part of the exon junction complex that remains associated with spliced mRNA and plays an important role in mRNA export and nonsense-mediated RNA decay. Nuclear localization, translocates to the cytoplasm as part of the exon junction complex (EJC) bound to mRNA. Two differentially spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Spliceosome; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor; RNA-binding; Chaperone

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; membrane; intracellular membrane-bound organelle; nuclear speck; cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; nucleotide binding; single-stranded DNA binding

Biological Process: osteoblast differentiation; nuclear mRNA splicing, via spliceosome; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; mRNA export from nucleus; positive regulation of RNA elongation; regulation of DNA recombination; RNA splicing; gene expression; intronless viral mRNA export from host nucleus; mRNA 3'-end processing; termination of RNA polymerase II transcription; replication fork processing

Product Notes

The THOC4 alyref (Catalog #AAA9624835) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's THOC4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Blocking/Control. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the THOC4 alyref for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "THOC4, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
