KIF2C blocking peptide

KIF2C Antibody (N-term) Blocking peptide

Gene Names
KIF2C; MCAK; CT139; KNSL6
Synonyms
KIF2C; KIF2C Antibody (N-term) Blocking peptide; Kinesin-like protein KIF2C; Kinesin-like protein 6; Mitotic centromere-associated kinesin; MCAK; KNSL6; KIF2C blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the N-term region of KIF2C. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
725
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Nucleus. Chromosome, centromere. Chromosome, centromere, kinetochore. Note: Associates with the microtubule network at the growing distal tip (the plus-end) of microtubules, probably through interaction with MTUS2/TIP150 and MAPRE1 (By similarity). Association with microtubule plus ends is also mediated by interaction with KIF18B. Centromeric localization requires the presence of BUB1 and SGOL2.
Tissue Location
Expressed at high levels in thymus and testis, at low levels in small intestine, the mucosal lining of colon, and placenta, and at very low levels in spleen and ovary; expression is not detected in prostate, peripheral blood Leukocytes, heart, brain, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney or pancreas. Isoform 2 is testis-specific.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for KIF2C blocking peptide
In complex with KIF18B, constitutes the major microtubule plus-end depolymerizing activity in mitotic cells. Regulates the turnover of microtubules at the kinetochore and functions in chromosome segregation during mitosis.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a kinesin-like protein that functions as a microtubule-dependent molecular motor. The encoded protein can depolymerize microtubules at the plus end, thereby promoting mitotic chromosome segregation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Uniprot Description

KIF2C: In complex with KIF18B, constitutes the major microtubule plus-end depolymerizing activity in mitotic cells. Regulates the turnover of microtubules at the kinetochore and functions in chromosome segregation during mitosis. Belongs to the kinesin-like protein family. MCAK/KIF2 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The KIF2C kif2c (Catalog #AAA9220407) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KIF2C, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
