GRK1 blocking peptide

GRK1 Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide

Gene Names
GRK1; RK; RHOK; GPRK1
Synonyms
GRK1; GRK1 Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide; Rhodopsin kinase; RK; G protein-coupled receptor kinase 1; RHOK; GRK1 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human GRK1. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
563
Cellular Location
Membrane; Lipid-anchor
Tissue Location
Retinal-specific. Expressed in rods and cones cells.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for GRK1 blocking peptide
Retina-specific kinase involved in the signal turnoff via phosphorylation of rhodopsin (RHO), the G protein- coupled receptor that initiates the phototransduction cascade. This rapid desensitization is essential for scotopic vision and permits rapid adaptation to changes in illumination.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor kinase subfamily of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. The protein phosphorylates rhodopsin and initiates its deactivation. Defects in GRK1 are known to cause Oguchi disease 2 (also known as stationary night blindness Oguchi type-2). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GRK1: a Ser/Thr of the GRK family. Phosphorylates and inactivates photon-activated rhodopsin. LOF mutations lead to type 2 Oguchi disease, a form of night blindness. A link between RHOK and retinitis pigmentosa is now thought to be unlikely

Protein type: Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Protein kinase, AGC; Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.11.14; AGC group; GRK family; GRK subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q34

Molecular Function: protein kinase activity; rhodopsin kinase activity

Biological Process: protein amino acid autophosphorylation; regulation of G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; regulation of rhodopsin mediated signaling; rhodopsin mediated signaling

Disease: Oguchi Disease 2

Product Notes

The GRK1 grk1 (Catalog #AAA9226484) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GRK1, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
