EIF2B5 blocking peptide

EIF2B5 Antibody (N-term) Blocking peptide

Gene Names
EIF2B5; CLE; CACH; LVWM; EIF-2B; EIF2Bepsilon
Synonyms
EIF2B5; EIF2B5 Antibody (N-term) Blocking peptide; Translation initiation factor eIF-2B subunit epsilon; eIF-2B GDP-GTP exchange factor subunit epsilon; EIF2BE; EIF2B5 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the N-term region of EIF2B5. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
721
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of five subunits of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B (EIF2B), a GTP exchange factor for eukaryotic initiation factor 2 and an essential regulator for protein synthesis. Mutations in this gene and the genes encoding other EIF2B subunits have been associated with leukoencephalopathy with vanishing white matter. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2009]

Uniprot Description

eIF2B-epsilon: eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B, subunit 5. A translational regulatory protein that functions in the early steps of protein synthesis by catalyzing the exchange of eukaryotic initiation factor 2-bound GDP for GTP. Mutation in EIF2B5 causes childhood ataxia with central nervous system hypomyelination/ vanishing white matter leukodystrophy.

Protein type: Translation; Translation initiation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q27.1

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B complex; nucleus

Molecular Function: guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity; protein binding; translation initiation factor activity; translation initiation factor binding

Biological Process: astrocyte development; astrocyte differentiation; myelination; negative regulation of translation initiation in response to stress; oligodendrocyte development; ovarian follicle development; positive regulation of translational initiation; response to glucose stimulus; response to heat; response to peptide hormone stimulus; translational initiation

Product Notes

The EIF2B5 eif2b5 (Catalog #AAA9219653) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "EIF2B5, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
