Bim BH3 Domain Blocking Peptide | BCL2L11 blocking peptide

Bim BH3 Domain Antibody Blocking Peptide

Gene Names
BCL2L11; BAM; BIM; BOD
Synonyms
Bim BH3 Domain; Bim BH3 Domain Antibody Blocking Peptide; Bcl-2-like protein 11; Bcl2-L-11; Bcl2-interacting mediator of cell death; BCL2L11; BIM; BCL2L11 blocking peptide
Ordering
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the region of human Bim BH3 Domain. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Sequence Length
198
Cellular Location
Endomembrane system; Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Associated with intracytoplasmic membranes. Isoform BimL: Mitochondrion. Isoform Bim-alpha1: Mitochondrion.
Tissue Location
Isoform BimEL, isoform BimL and isoform BimS are the predominant isoforms and are ubiquitously expressed with a tissue-specific variation. Isoform Bim-gamma is most abundantly expressed in small intestine and colon, and in lower levels in spleen, prostate, testis, heart, liver and kidney
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Related Product Information for BCL2L11 blocking peptide
Induces apoptosis and anoikis. Isoform BimL is more potent than isoform BimEL. Isoform Bim-alpha1, isoform Bim-alpha2 and isoform Bim-alpha3 induce apoptosis, although less potent than isoform BimEL, isoform BimL and isoform BimS. Isoform Bim-gamma induces apoptosis. Isoform Bim-alpha3 induces apoptosis possibly through a caspase-mediated pathway. Isoform BimAC and isoform BimABC lack the ability to induce apoptosis.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the BCL-2 protein family. BCL-2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. The protein encoded by this gene contains a Bcl-2 homology domain 3 (BH3). It has been shown to interact with other members of the BCL-2 protein family and to act as an apoptotic activator. The expression of this gene can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests a role of this gene in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies of the mouse counterpart suggested that this gene functions as an essential initiator of apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2013]

Uniprot Description

BIM: a pro-apoptotic member of the BCL-2 protein family. Interacts with other members of the BCL-2 protein family, including BCL2, BCL2L1/BCL-X(L), and MCL1, and act as an apoptotic activator. Its expression can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests a role in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies in the mouse suggested that this protein functions as an essential initiator of the apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. Nineteen alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been reported.

Protein type: Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q13

Cellular Component: cytosol; mitochondrial outer membrane; mitochondrion

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: apoptosis; DNA damage response, signal transduction resulting in induction of apoptosis; meiosis I; positive regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of protein homooligomerization; protein insertion into mitochondrial membrane during induction of apoptosis

Product Notes

The BCL2L11 bcl2l11 (Catalog #AAA9219652) is a Blocking Peptide and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bim BH3 Domain, Blocking Peptide" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
