Related Product Information for AURKC recombinant protein
Description: Recombinant full-length human AURORA C was expressed by baculovirus in Sf9 insect cells using an N-terminal GST tag.
Scientific Background: Aurora C is a member of mitotic serine/threonine kinases that regulate centrosome maturation, chromosome segregation, and cytokinesis. Aurora C has been shown to contribute to oncogenic transformation and is frequently overexpressed and amplified in many human tumors (1). Aurora C overexpression has been correlated with centrosome amplification, which can be a driving cause of genomic instability in tumor cells. Aurora C is an important regulator of both genomic integrity and cell cycle progression in cancer cells and is an attractive target for anticancer drug development (2).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the Aurora subfamily of serine/threonine protein kinases. The encoded protein is a chromosomal passenger protein that forms complexes with Aurora-B and inner centromere proteins and may play a role in organizing microtubules in relation to centrosome/spindle function during mitosis. This gene is overexpressed in several cancer cell lines, suggesting an involvement in oncogenic signal transduction. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

AurC: a member of the AUR family of kinases. May play a part in organizing microtubules in relation to the function of the centrosome/spindle pole during mitosis. Localized to centrosome from anaphase to cytokinesis. Two splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The AURKC aurkc (Catalog #AAA515455) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Sf9 insect cells using baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is Full Length. AAA Biotech's Aurora C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Kinase Assay, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the AURKC aurkc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aurora C, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
