Related Product Information for ARL6 recombinant protein
ARL6, also known ADP-ribosylation factor-like protein 6, belongs to the ARF family of GTP-binding proteins. This protein is known to play essential roles in modulating membrane trafficking and cytoskeletal functions. Mutation in ARL6 causes Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS3). BBS is a pleiotropic genetic disorder characterized by obesity, photoreceptor degeneration, polydactyly, hypogenitalism, renal abnor-malities and developmental delay. Recombinant human ARL6 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ARF-like (ADP ribosylation factor-like) sub-family of the ARF family of GTP-binding proteins which are involved in regulation of intracellular traffic. Mutations in this gene are associated with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS). A vision-specific transcript, encoding long isoform BBS3L, has been described (PMID: 20333246). [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2016]

Uniprot Description

Involved in membrane protein trafficking at the base of the ciliary organelle. Mediates recruitment onto plasma membrane of the BBSome complex which would constitute a coat complex required for sorting of specific membrane proteins to the primary cilia (PubMed:20603001). Together with BBS1, is necessary for correct trafficking of PKD1 to primary cilia (). Together with the BBSome complex and LTZL1, controls SMO ciliary trafficking and contributes to the sonic hedgehog (SHH) pathway regulation (PubMed:22072986). May regulate cilia assembly and disassembly and subsequent ciliary signaling events such as the Wnt signaling cascade (PubMed:20207729). Isoform 2 may be required for proper retinal function and organization ().

Product Notes

The ARL6 arl6 (Catalog #AAA204065) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The tag for this protein is His-tag. AAA Biotech's ARL6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, SDS-PAGE. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the ARL6 arl6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHHHHH SSGLVPRGSH MGLLDRLSVL LGLKKKEVHV LCLGLDNSGK TTIINKLKPS NAQSQNILPT IGFSIEKFKS SSLSFTVFDM SGQGRYRNLW EHYYKEGQAI IFVIDSSDRL RMVVAKEELD TLLNHPDIKH RRIPILFFAN KMDLRDAVTS VKVSQLLCLE NIKDKPWHIC ASDAIKGEGL QEGVDWLQDQ IQTVKT. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ARL6, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
