NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that plays a key role in the regulation of signaling through Rho GTPases. The encoded protein inhibits the disassociation of Rho family members from GDP (guanine diphosphate), thereby maintaining these factors in an inactive state. Activity of this protein is important in a variety of cellular processes, and expression of this gene may be altered in tumors. Mutations in this gene have been found in individuals with nephrotic syndrome, type 8. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]

Uniprot Description

RhoGDI alpha: Regulates the GDP/GTP exchange reaction of the Rho proteins by inhibiting the dissociation of GDP from them, and the subsequent binding of GTP to them. Monomer. Forms a heterodimer with RAC1. Interacts with FER. Belongs to the Rho GDI family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; G protein regulator, misc.; Cell adhesion; Cell development/differentiation; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q25.3

Cellular Component: cytoskeleton; immunological synapse; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; Rho GDP-dissociation inhibitor activity; GTPase activator activity

Biological Process: regulation of small GTPase mediated signal transduction; regulation of protein localization; nerve growth factor receptor signaling pathway; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; positive regulation of axonogenesis; negative regulation of axonogenesis; negative regulation of cell adhesion; cell motility; regulation of axonogenesis; negative regulation of cell migration; Rho protein signal transduction; negative regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of GTPase activity

Product Notes

The ARHGDIA arhgdia (Catalog #AAA144194) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Escherichia Coli. and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MGSSHHH HHH SSGLVPRGSH MSVNYK PPAQ KSIQEIQELD KDDESLRKYK EALLGRVAVS ADPNVPNVVV TGLTLVCSSA PGPLELDLTG DLESFKKQSF VLKEGVEYRI KISFRVNREI VSGMKYIQHT YRKGVKIDKT DYMVGSYGPR AEEYEFLTPV EEAPKGMLAR GSYSIKSRFT DDDKTDHLSW EWNLTIKKDW KD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GDI, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
