Related Product Information for ARG1 recombinant protein
Arginase is a manganese-containing enzyme which catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine to ornithine and urea. It is the final enzyme of the urea cycle. At least two isoforms of mammalian arginase exist (types I and II) which differ in their tissue distribution, subcellular localization, immunologic crossreactivity and physiologic function. The type I isoform functions in the urea cycle, and is located primarily in the cytoplasm of the liver. The type II isoform has been implicated in the regulation of the arginine/ornithine concentrations in the cell. It is located in mitochondria of several tissues in the body, with most abundance in the kidney and prostate.

NCBI Description

Arginase catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine to ornithine and urea. At least two isoforms of mammalian arginase exist (types I and II) which differ in their tissue distribution, subcellular localization, immunologic crossreactivity and physiologic function. The type I isoform encoded by this gene, is a cytosolic enzyme and expressed predominantly in the liver as a component of the urea cycle. Inherited deficiency of this enzyme results in argininemia, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by hyperammonemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

The amino acid sequence is listed below: MSAKSRTIGI IGAPFSKGQP RGGVEEGPTV LRKAGLLEKL KEQECDVKDY GDLPFADIPN SPFQIVKNP RSVGKASEQL AGKVAEVKKN GRISLVLGGD HSLAIGSISG HARVHPDLGV IWVDAHTDIN PLTTTSGNL HGQPVSFLLK ELKGKIPDVP GFSWVTPCIS AKDIVYIGLR DVDPGEHYIL KTLGIKYFSM TEVDRLGIGK VMEETLSYLL GRKKRPIHLS FDVDGLDPSF TPATGTPVVG GLTYREGLYI TEEIYKTGLL SGLDIMEVNP SLGKTPEEVT RTVNTAVAIT LACFGLAREG NHKPIDYLNP PKLEHHHHHH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ARG1, aa1-322, His tag, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
