Function: As a component of the mitochondrial inner membrane organizing system (MINOS/MitOS) complex, important for normal mitochondrial morphology. Ref.8 Ref.11 Ref.12
Subunit structure: Component of the MINOS/MitOS complex, that includes FCJ1, AIM5, AIM13, AIM37, MOS1 and MOS2.
Subcellular location: Mitochondrion inner membrane; Single-pass membrane protein Ref.6 Ref.9 Ref.11 Ref.12.
Disruption phenotype: Increases frequency of mitochondrial genome loss. Partially altered shape of the mitochondrial network with condensed, fragmented mitochondria accumulating at the periphery of cells. 20-40% of mitochondria exhibit an increased inner membrane surface and stacks of lamellar cristae disconnected from the inner boundary membrane.
