Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ACVR1C in samples. An antibody specific for ACVR1C has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyACVR1C present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ACVR1C is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ACVR1C bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

may play a role in neuronal maturation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

ALK7: Serine/threonine protein kinase which forms a receptor complex on ligand binding. The receptor complex consisting of 2 type II and 2 type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators, SMAD2 and SMAD3. Receptor for activin AB, activin B and NODAL. Plays a role in cell differentiation, growth arrest and apoptosis. Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. TKL Ser/Thr protein kinase family. TGFB receptor subfamily. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 2.7.11.30; Kinase, protein; Membrane protein, integral; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (receptor); Protein kinase, TKL; STKR family; TKL group; Type1 subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q21

Cellular Component: activin receptor complex; cell surface; cytoplasm; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: activin binding; activin receptor activity, type I; ATP binding; growth factor binding; metal ion binding; protein serine/threonine kinase activity; signal transducer, downstream of receptor, with serine/threonine kinase activity; SMAD binding

Biological Process: activin receptor signaling pathway; apoptosis; apoptotic nuclear changes; cell differentiation; cerebellum development; determination of left/right symmetry; hippocampus development; in utero embryonic development; lipid storage; midbrain development; negative regulation of insulin secretion; ovarian follicle development; positive regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process; protein amino acid phosphorylation; regulation of apoptosis; response to dietary excess; response to drug; response to glucose stimulus; response to insulin stimulus; response to lipid; response to organic cyclic compound; transforming growth factor beta receptor complex assembly

Product Notes

The Rat ACVR1C acvr1c (Catalog #AAA281883) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA281883 ELISA Kit recognizes Rat ACVR1C. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Activin receptor type-1C, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
